Super Pennetta, è in semifinale:
Roberta Vinci battuta 6-4  6-1
Pennetta - Azarenka
Grande attesa a Brindisi!
GIOIA FLAVIA - "Buongiorno ragazzi!

Serena Williams in semifinale

Istruzione - Personaggi sportivi / Jennifer Capriati e Tiger Woods

4 settembre '13 - mercoledì      4th September / Wednesday                    visioni post - 24

Jennifer Capriati

was a winning athlete when she was young. She was born in New York
on March 29, 1976, and began to play tennis when she was three.
At fourteen, she became the youngest player to win a match at Wimbledon.
A year later, she beat the famous tennis champion Martina Navratilova.
In July 1992, at the age of sixteen, she won a gold medal for tennis at the
Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.
But it isn'i always easy to be famous when you're young. Jennifer had a
lot of reporters outside her house every day, and she began  to eat  a lot
and became very fat.      Then, one day, someone saw her taking things
from a shop. Soon after that, they found drugs in her bag.
These stories were on radio and television across the world, and Jennifer
felt very bad about them. In 1994 she stopped playing professional tennis.
But Jennifer survived these bad years. She wanted to get healthy and go
back to tennis. -  She stopped taking drugs and eating badly, and began
training. In 2001, she won the Australian Open Championship, and in
June of that year xhe won the French Open. "Here I am again. This is
my second chance", she said happily to reporters this time.

Tiger Woods

was only two when he played golf on American television for the first
time.  No one knew this young boy was to become one of golf's mosts
successful players.
Eldrick Tiger Woods was born on December 30, 1975, in Cypress,
California. His father, Earl, is a black American and his mother
is from Thailand. In the war in Vietnam, Earl Woods made friends
with a Vietnamese soldier called Tiger.   And so he gave the name
Tiger to his son. - Earl loved golf, and often played it when Tiger
was a boy. Young Tiger went with him, watched his father playing
and learned a lot from him. When he was eight he became a young
world champion.  After that he won many golf championships for
young people.
Tiger Woods was very good at golf for his age. He went to Stanford
University in 1994 and he was very good at golf there, too. After 2
years at university, Tiger left to become a professional golf player.
In 1997, at the age of twenty-one, Tiger was  the youngest  player
to become an American golf champion. In 2000, he was the youn-
gest golfer to win the four most important golf championships in
the world in one year.
These days Tiger is rich and famous, and he lives in Florida because
the weather there is always great for golf! He was the first black Ame-
rican to be successful at this 'white person's sport'. But when he was
younger, some white golfers said he could not play with them because
he was black. Perhaps his story can help today's young athletes to be
tomorrow's champions.
